Learning about Plants
Plants interact with each other and communicate in ways that we have only recently started to understand. Respecting the balance of nature and imitating it in the way we cultivate our crops is of great importance, especially in these times.
There are farmers, even with thousands of acres, who are learning to understand the importance of cover crops in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. The interaction of various companion plants can also be beneficial to each other's growth. Plants can provide
habitat to pollinators and other useful insects, as well as repel pests. At the Pura Vida Eco Farm we are working on using plants to minimize contamination from nearby conventional farm fields, restore life in barren fields, and create perennial raised beds and intensive no till rows.
